Johnson does a great job adding to this Bluegrass version of the Christmas Carol “What Child is This?” She does so well, we just can’t make fun of her.
sounds great. the musicians sound really professional! makes me want to come visit you in the northeast and sit by th ebonfire with some hot apple cider! will you be recording anymore songs? keep it up!
You asked me Johnny what i liked about Bluegrass music.Maybe you’ll think im crazy but when i heard this song for the first time on your show,i imagined green.Yes lol the color green. Then the sun and the mountains. And these imagies are coming to me only when i listen to bulgarian folklore.I like it Johnny, even more when you sing.
wow, thanks Sno! you know, bluegrass is a form a music that is tied to the Appalachian mountains and the Shanendoah mountains, areas of which are in my home state of Virginia, USA. It is a big, lush, beautiful state with rich history and culture. I also think of the music very much tied to the land, the GREEN mountains and trees, and also purple mountains, made popular in the song “America, The Beautiful,” in which Purple Mountain Majesties are referenced. America really is a beautiful country and VA is an amazing state. i hope you can visit sometime! I need to see more of it, myself! Thank you for sharing your insights–you are right on!!! And thanks for your compliments!
having explored virginia many times, i can confirm Johnny’s assertion that it is a beautiful state. it is my favorite state that i have been to so far. i love it there. the history, the scenery. it’s great. Jamestown is the first settlement in the United States, if I’m not mistaken. And it’s in Virginia. Virginia has been an important and large part of the early history of the country. Because of its wealth and population, it was vital that Virginia be on board when it came time to declare our independence from England. During the Civil War, it was home to the capital of the Confederacy even though it was just across the river from the capital of the Union and not a deep Southern state nor a centrailzed state. I think the State’s greatest treasure is 0our own Jessica Johnson. Well, that’s what she’d want us to think. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Yeah i heard about Jamestown.
The first succesful english colony in North America. The colony changed the ecosystem in the area forever. And also starts big movements for democracy. It is the first colony that use captived africans as slaves.3 English ships landed in the middle of a small but fastgrowing Indian Impery.
Captain John Smith, leader of the Virginia Colony had the task to investigate the area with a crew of 2 englishmen and 2 indian guiders, when the expedition has been stopped by group of indians.Their leader was the brother of Chief Powhatano(he was 60 years old when the colony arrived). His brother brought the prisoner to him with the idea to crush his head with woody sticks, but then the daughter of Powhatan,Pocahontas put her arms around Smith’s head,so the father was too weak to do it.He took pity on him, because he loved his daughter too much. She was 11 years old.6 years later she got married to John Rolfe-prominent planter .Interesting fact -Pocahontas is a nick name wich means”little devil”.
I love the story about Jamestown.
sanp, yo! yes, you remind us of the ugly part of our history, too. all in all, i’m happy to be from here, yet we have much to learn from–great and not so great! : )

historical context is needed here. meaning, they didn’t think, back then, like we do now.
